WESPA Youth Cup 2024 Qualification Criteria

The WESPA Youth Cup 2024 ("WYC 2024") is expected to be held in Citrus Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka from 6 September 2024 to 8 September 2024. Please refer to for more details about the event.

Qualifying Period

The qualifying period ("QP") is from 12 February 2024 to 30 June 2024.


A player is eligible to represent Singapore at the WYC 2024 if he/she:

  1. is an SA member, and a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, from the end of the QP to the end of WYC 2024;
  2. was born on 1 January 2007 or later;
  3. has played a minimum of 16 SA-rated games during the QP in 2024; and
  4. has registered to SA during the QP their intention to represent Singapore at WYC 2024 via

Treatment of Byes

Byes will not be used in the calculation of ratings.

Byes awarded to a player during the QP will count towards the 16-game minimum requirements; byes conceded by a player will not count towards this.

Byes awarded prior to the QP will not count towards the 16-game minimum requirement.

Selection Criteria

Singapore is expected to receive 10 spots for WYC 2024 which will be allocated as follows:

  1. 8 spots to the top-rated eligible qualifiers at the end of the QP; and
  2. 2 spots to the top-rated eligible qualifiers below the age of 13 (as of 1 January 2024).

In the event that a qualifier meets both selection criteria (i) and (ii), he/she will qualify under selection criterion (i).

Any remaining spot(s) not allocated under selection criterion (ii) will be awarded to the next top-rated eligible qualifier(s) who has/have not already qualified under selection criterion (i).

The WYC entry fee will be waived for the eligible qualifiers.

Queries and registrations are to be directed to The SA Committee reserves the right to modify any part of the WYC 2024 qualification process and will be the final arbiter in the case of any dispute or its interpretation.
