2015 WYSC qualification

The 2015 World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC) will be held at University of Western Australia (UWA), Perth on from 31st October to 2nd November 2015.

Eligibility

A youth player is eligible to represent Singapore at WYSC 2015 if he or she is:

  1. an SA member and a Singapore citizen or permanent resident from the end of qualifying period (QP) to the commencement of the WYSC;

  2. is born on 1st January 1998 or later;

  3. has played a minimum of 16 SA-rated games during the QP;

  4. has played in at least two different SA-rated tournaments during the QP;

  5. and has a minimum SA rating of 1500 at the end of the QP.

Qualifying Period

The QP is from 13th March 2015 to the conclusion of the 2015 National Championship or 3rd August 2015 whichever is earlier.

Treatment of Byes

Byes will not be used in the calculation of ratings. Byes awarded to a player will count towards the 16-game minimum requirement; byes conceded by a player will not count towards this.

Selection Criteria

The places available to Singapore will be offered to eligible youth players after the conclusion of the QP from the highest-rated in descending order. Any spots available as players decline or become ineligible will be offered to reserves in descending order by SA rating.
